In the recording studio...
For years, our main focus has been on writing Horn Arrangements. We specialize in adding horn sections to existing original tracks for bands and for radio and T.V. advertising, enhancing those existing tracks with our horn arrangements.
We have also been called upon to write string arrangements to compliment existing tracks.
"During the Agave Blue sessions, Carey and I talked about bringing back that Miles Davis muted trumpet sound and Carey did exactly that. What mood!!! There's a reason why Carey's "Miles Breathes" quote is in the Agave Blue liner notes.
Indeed it does and Carey's one of the reasons why."

"Carey is a pleasure to work with. He is incredibly flexible and creative. His knowledge of the studio and experience with digital recording make him a frequent call at Deaf Dog Music"

Deaf Dog Music
"The CD we recorded in 2001 using “Real Horns Inc.” sold over 200,000 copies. On our latest CD we traveled to Manchester to record rhythm tracks with Joe Cocker’s band, then flew to Chicago to work with Carey and “Real Horns” because they are world class. We will continue to use them in the future because the horn parts are always perfect for the track."-Rafal
To add horns or strings to your project... here's how we would do it:
| Step 1: | You send us a recording (rough mix with vocals). Any audio format is acceptable, but digital is best. We've found that an mp3 attached to an email works very well. |
| Step 2: | We write the horns or strings to embellish your rough tracks. |
| Step 3: (Optional) | At your request, we can send an mp3 or CD "mockup" of the arrangement (performed on synths) to give you a general idea of how the arrangement will sound. |
| Step 4: | The arrangement is recorded at a studio of your choice. |
If you choose to record here in Chicago, we can assist in hiring the right musicians and booking the right studio to meet your needs.
We've used this procedure a number of times in the last few years, and it works great!
In a live setting...
We can add horn or string arrangements to your existing Rhythm section parts.
Again, it is best to "hear" your arrangements by working with audio that youÕve supplied for us. If a recording is not available, we can simply work with printed music.
Transcriptions...
We are very quick and extremely accurate at transcribing, and putting on paper what you have given us in audio. If you have some existing arrangements, which need to be "lifted" from an audio source, we can help.
